On October 3rd, 4th, 10th & 11th members of Goodson-Kinderhook Fire Rescue,
Brumley Gap Fire Dept Department, and Washington County Fire Rescue
participated in a Hazardous Materials Operations class. This class is to develop
the knowledge and skills of emergency responders so they are able to safely and
effectively operate at a hazardous materials incident. Instructors are Scotty
Sproles and Tracy Hobbs of Bristol Virginia Fire Department. For more pictures

On March 10th, 2009 Goodson-Kinderhook and Bristol Virginia Fire
Department came together at Station 1 for a class on railroad safety. Since
both departments have active railroad lines running through their territories,
Assistant Chief Brain Anderson of Goodson-Kinderhook and Captain Jeff
Simpson of Bristol Virginia Fire Department came together and hosted
Michael Stiner of Norfolk Southern's safety department. The class was very
informative and gave everyone a better understanding of how to handle a
railroad emergency. This class is recommended to anyone with active rail lines
coming through their response area. If your department is interested in this
class, email Michael Stiner at mestiner@nscorp.com
