2010 G.K.V.F.D. BANQUET
On January 9th, 2009 Goodson Kinderhook Volunteer Fire Department held its annual banquet. In
attendance were members of the department and their families, ladies auxiliary, and special guest Chief J.C.
Bolling (Bristol Virginia Fire Department) and Fred Newman (Washington County Virginia Sheriffs Office).
Members who received "years of service" awards were David Childress (5 years), Derek Duckett (5 years),
Leon Duckett (10 years), Brian Anderson (20 years) and Don Venable (25 years). Brian Anderson was also
presented a plaque expressing the departments gratitude and appreciation for all of his hard work and
dedication not only for the 20 years he has been a member but also for the 8 years he served as Assistant
Chief (2001-2009). Don Venable received his 25 year award and has served as Fire Captain for over 20
years. Sharon Mullins was elected President for 2010 and makes her the first female President in the history
of Goodson Kinderhook. The new Assistant Chief for 2010 is Michael Hardin, formerly President. Even with
the temperatures nearing single digits, the banquet was a success. Membership at Goodson-Kinderhook is
at a all time high and more applications are being submitted every month. With a ever growing community,
training and expanding our membership is a must. Thanks to everyone who made the banquet and all of the
yearly events possible. For more pictures of the banquet click
